Eric Snook's Guide to Buying a Pram
Will your baby be comfortable?
A completely flat lying position from birth is essential for an infant's respiratory, bone and muscle development as advised by paediatricians. Contrary to widely used practice, car seats placed in prams and pushchairs are not good for your baby's development.
Most prams now convert to a pushchair/stroller, look for a seat which will recline to a long, flat bed as your toddler will still need to lie flat to sleep to help growth and strengthen muscles and respiratory system.
Do you live in an apartment with steps? Do you frequently use public transport? Is storage space limited in your home or car? Let us guide you.
If any of these apply to you, look for a light weight, compact, easy fold pram chassis.
Do you enjoy outdoor life?
Your baby needs fresh air, so make sure your choice of pram has good suspension and large wheels for a more comfortable ride for your baby and to help you push your pram more easily, particularly over rough ground.
If you have a garden or patio your pram can be placed outside in the shade for your baby's daytime rest, of course an anti tip chassis is essential.
